why there is a collection debt in my credit report?
Hi, I just reviewed my credit report at Experian. But there is a “collection debt” from Bank of America in my report. Weird thing that I never opened any accounts there. Where does this debt come from?
okay..thank you for you answers. the thing is it shows an account num in the credit report. The bank address shown is in PA but in fact I’m living in Hawaii.I feel that account was opened in the name of me illegally. Any more analysis on this issue is highly appreciated , thank you~
Have you ever had a bad debt for a credit card? It could be that Bank of America services that card. Contact Experian and dispute the collection item. They will check into it further for you. It is not uncommon for Credit Reporting Bureaus to be wrong. And hopefully, you have had not your identity stolen. This, too, is a possibility.
