Signature when disputing items on credit report?

I have seen some people with answers here stating that you should never put your signature on a letter when disputing items on your credit report. Can someone explain to me why that is?

Thanks in advance.

EMT is right when it comes to collectors and signatures.
A persons signature may jump from one paper to another paper the person had never originally signed. (It has been known to happen that)
With collectors only type your name or print your initials

When disputing with the CRA’s, filing complaints with the FTC, BBB, AG, etc., it’s ok to sign with your signature
