security freeze on credit report without my permission?
i was trying to access my free credit report through equifax, when it then told me that there was a security freeze on my account, and that they could not release that information unless i sent a whole bunch of info in….how did this happen? i never requested for this service and now i cant even get my report ive been trying to establish credit, and have been denied by most cards. could this be why? im only 18 years old, so i dont have much credit history. why did they do this to my report?
You may be a victim of Identity theft.
The only person that can place a freeze on their credit report is you. No one else can unless they have stolen your identity.
This practice is done so that the real person does not know about loans or credit cards placed in their name.
You may have to seek legal counsel to get this situation straightened out. You should also try to obtain your other 2 credit reports to see what they have on file.
If you think you might be a victim of ID theft then here is a link to report it.

Even if you have no credit history, then there would be no reason for a security freeze.
Now if you went online to obtain your report, they may have placed a freeze to prohibit anyone else except you from getting the report. This is why they need the information to verify your Identity before releasing the report.
