Collections on credit report?

I have this stupid collection on my credit report DirecTV I refuse to pay, and battle with constantly. It's literally the only thing wrong with my credit file and I do not want to screw it up. I used to be a mortgage broker, so I know how credit reports are ordered for the most part, but most of the time that I saw on someones collections credit, there were many other arrears to follow. Ideas?

The accounts cover almost the worst thing that can appear on your credit report. The only thing worse are Repo and bankruptcy. A collection could knock down a score of 40 points or more, even if the rest of the report is perfect. Not knowing how he is for or the exact situation. If this is a case where the account is actually yours do you send them a letter Validation requires proof that it's yours. If after 30 days they do not provide that you can then send a request to the companies credit reports have it removed. This should be simple enough forward as it was at an address that you have never lived. Case simply a case where you do not like the service or something like an early cancellation fee. If it is within their rights under the contract it would be better for you to work with them. You can negotiate with them to remove the collection account if you repay the account. If cool that you are sure you were not allowed in the contract that you would again dispute with DirecTV and if you do not get satisfaction you may have to file a small claims case against them. The key here is to put everything in writing by registered letter with Return Receipt. This is if you have a written record of all actions you have taken.
