credit report job application
credit report job application
Can a business ask for a credit report BEFORE giving out the job application, or does this sound like a scam?
I replied to a posting on Craigslist, trying to see if a receptionist position was indeed a real job and not just one of those schemes or spam. The response I got said:
“Due to bad experiences with this in the past, before we can send you an application, we need you to get a credit check. We prefer you use (*specific website*) to obtain this information. When you submit your information they will send you your credit check. When you email me your credit score I will send you your application.”
Is this something a legitimate employer can ask for prior to receiving any of my information (not even a resume), or do you think this is some way to fish for my information just to get me to go to this website, meaning the job probably doesn’t even exist?
i would be weary, especially since it was found on craigslist.
check this business out on the bbb website to see if it’s legit or not.
it’s a new trend for employers to credit check.
my mom’s been applying for countless jobs for over a year now & has been denied most of them because of her credit (which she only found out recently that’s what they’ve been doing)
… it makes no sense to me.
how does your credit score reflect how you will be on your job?
but i guess some people think there’s a connection.
