credit report one time charge

credit report one time charge
When does a credit report charge off dissapear?

On my creidt report one of my negative reports is a credit card which i settled in 2/2006 It reads: Paid in settlement/Account charged off. $7,637 written off
and also it says Account legally paid in full for less than full balance.
I dont have or use the card since I settled.

When will this dissapear and not appear as a negative statement on my credit report? Is there a way to expedite its removal? Shoudl I go back and pay it in full (will that help my credit rating?)?

Unless you settled with the company upfront to have them remove it, it will stay on your report for 7-10 years. If you negoiated with the company to remove it as soon as it is paid, then contact the company in writing to remove it. At this stage, paying the remainder in full will do nothing for your credit. Good luck.
