I need help with Credit Report Problems. Account status is shown incorrectly?
On my credit report one of my accounts is reported as pays 31-60 days late. This account was 30 days late in 2003 but was caught up and constantly paid on time for 12 months after that until it was paid and closed. I disputed the current status (as it was paid on time and closed in mar 2004) and Bank Of America came back stating that they could report that I pay 31-60 days as the “current status” because I was late for a payment. Equifax has been no help because they said they can only go by what the company reports. Someone please help. I have no problem with the late payment, I know that I paid it late, but I just need to get the account status correct.
Unfortunately, you need to deal w/ the bank that posted that report. If Bank of America isn’t helping you, then you need to start moving up the chain of command there until you get someone who can. I thought if the account was closed that should be the “current” status. Unfortunately, this will be on your report for 7 years…
