credit report questions

credit report questions
I have a few credit report questions?

The first is how long do closed accounts stay on your credit report?

The second is how long do inquiries stay on your credit report?

And the third is how do I find out why one of my credit reports says that I have been delinquent on an account? It doesn’t say which account, the summary of this credit report just says that I have 1 delinquent.

Thank you.

1) Almost all accounts stay on the report 7 years (a few may stay on 10) from the last activity.

2) Up to two years for voluntary inquiries (ones that you authorized when applying for credit)

3) The delinquent account should be in the main part of the credit report. You may have to search each account for the payment history – a delinquency can be one late payment (only payments made 30 days after the due date are considered delinquent).

If you can’t find the delinquency, try the help line at the credit bureau or file a dispute to have it taken off – they should be able to point you to the delinquency then.
