Can I get this removed from my credit report or just wait?
Okay, here’s the deal: I have two charge-offs on my Equifax report. The trade lines are as follows:
Date of last payment is blank
Date of last activity says ‘N/A’
Date of first Delinquency is 7/2001
My question then is, according to the reporting rules, Shouldn’t this be coming off of my credit report in July of 2008? Also, is there a way to get this removed earlier?
I’ve been gone for a while…it seems I need to once again refresh everyone’s memory on the law.
1) You have the right to dispute any item on your credit report (legit or not).
2) The reporting period for derogatory items is 7 years from the date of delinquency. So you are right, July 2008 it must be removed AUTOMATICALLY….you do not have to dispute it to get it removed.
3) Old debts such as this have an excellent chance of being deleted, but the process will take a few months. By then it will be past July. So going through this process would be a waste of your time and money. Just sit back and wait.
