experian credit report problems?

my wife was sued by her ex employer in philadelphia because shedid not finish the job contract, a settlement was reached and both parties agreed to an amount less than $20,000. there was no trial whatsoever now the thing is it appeared on the experian credit report and the amount there was $47,000 , is there a way to take that or delete that from my wife credit report. it is showing there a judgement and the case did not even go to trial so how can there be a judgement??.. the remarks on the credit report has hurt my wifes credit score and was also denied credit on the other loans that we want to get. i need to know how to get this this off her credit report, i filed a complaint and they just put remarks that says that it was paid…i just want this off my wifes credit report..so please help me

Typically, credit bureaus rely upon its data aggregators to pull public records which include lawsuits that involves liens or settlements.

The fact that your wife have a public record, regardless of amount, will hurt your wife’s FICO score.

I recommend:
1) Get the case number and court of jurisdiction from the report and check with that court to see if for some reason the lawsuit was filed but never withdrawn or dismissed. If you have reached a settlement, the court needs to dismiss the case. If that was not done, then your wife may ACTUALLY have a lawsuit and judgement against her that is not satisfied. This could happen if there was an actual court date, and your wife did not show up because she thought she had settled.
