foreclosure credit report years

foreclosure credit report years
how many years does a foreclosure stay on your credit report?

I know it is for 7 years, or was, but, a realtor told me it was now 3 years. I can’t seem to find info to support this.

Crider is correct. I work for a credit attorney. It is three years after the “sale” of the foreclosure that you can buy a house again. This can easily be taken off the credit now, but you still have to disclose it when you fill out a loan application. You score will go up considerably. When you apply for a loan they ask if you have had a foreclosure in the past 7 years. If you get it off your credit and you lie, then you have committed fraud and could be subject to imprisonment.
