Why is my equifax credit report account frozen?
I recently asked for my free annual credit report and equifax wouldn’t send it to me because my account appears to be frozen. Why would this happen if I didn’t freeze it and how can I unfreeze it? Does this mean somebody tried to steal my identity? I tried calling but the number they have is all automated. Can somebody please help me understand what is happening?

Is it a fraud alert or a freeze? Either way dispute it in writing not over the internet.
